Creating a personal on-line
calendar using Yahoo
1. Go to calendar.yahoo.com
2. Assuming you don't already have a
Yahoo ID, click on link Get Your Own Yahoo! Calendar
3. On the sign up page then presented
enter a Yahoo ID. Be aware, if your proposed ID is already in use by one
of the millions of Yahoo users, you'll have to pick another ID. I suggest
you try your name followed by HHI e.g. HarveyHHI
4. Then pick an easy to remember
password, and write it down
5. Then complete
the Personal Information section. Remember you needn't get
"real" information if you are concerned about privacy. Uncheck
the "contact me about special offers"
6. When you have the
information click the "Submit this form" button at the button of the
page.
7. If your Yahoo ID is
accepted you'll see a Welcome to Yahoo page
8. Then click Go to
Yahoo Calendar
9. Click on
"options" so you can begin to personalize you Yahoo Calendar
10. Click "Calendar
Preferences" on the Options page and decide how you want you Calendar to
look. You can change these default settings at any time in the
future. I prefer the Calendar to show a month, rather than day or week,
but its up to you.
11. Proceed through the
various options until the Calendar looks like what you want. The Reminder
section set up various ways you can receive reminders. I selected my
personal email address.
12. When all your options are
saved click on Calendar Home to go to your calendar. Now you can begin
making Calendar entries.
13. Click on the small
"add" link on the day on which you want to make and entry. Then
you will be able to describe the event, set it up for reminders, and create
repeating entries for regular events.
14. Bookmark, or make you
Calendar a favorite so you can get to it easily on your own computer.
Your ID can be saved on your computer, so you won't have to reenter it each
time. Your password can be set so that it is "remembered" for a
maximum of 8 hours on your own computer.
15. Now that you are a Yahoo
Calendar user, you may wish to set up a personal Yahoo home page, or a Yahoo
Mail account that you can use when away from home.
